Seeds of Entrepreneurship Are Sown

Having lived overseas for 10 years working as a Marketing Communication Strategist, Tania left the action of corporate jet-setting and returned to Australia in 1998 to start her family. When her youngest daughter was just 3 weeks old Tania co-founded and directed the Whole Woman Festival. An annual International Women’s Day Festival that brought together hundreds of women to share their wisdom on a host of topics including business, relationships, finance, health, sexuality, parenting, environment and general wellbeing.

With no budget Tania, together with a team of volunteers, took the Festival from a half day celebration to hosting 14 sell-out events in 9 days.  By leveraging the power of free publicity, she was able to generate over 83 media ‘grabs’ in just three weeks.  All while balancing the needs of her two young daughters who accompanied her to media interviews, sponsor meetings and often onstage.

Tania ‘fell’ into the arms of entrepreneurship unexpectedly.  “I wasn’t always entrepreneurial.  In 1999 when I was pregnant with my first daughter and dragging myself to the office (I suffered terrible morning sickness) I considered myself a success.  I had a JOB and was contributing to the economy like most responsible citizens.” But that was all about to change.

Within 5 years, Tania left her executive career, gave birth to three children, buried her firstborn, become the sole provider of her family, found herself embroiled in an emotionally draining legal battle, was witnessing escalating credit card debt and served home repossession papers.  Her dream of balancing a JOB and a family were shattered.  “This wasn’t my vision of motherhood!  I was frustrated, alone, exhausted…and desperate to find a way to secure the future of my young family.”

The Hesitant Entrepreneur

Then one day it happened.  Tania made a decision that transformed her life.  She stood tall while many around her suggested her actions were foolish…especially as the sole provider of her then 2 and 4 year old daughters.  Nonetheless an unstinting faith in her own ability propelled Tania to go into business for herself.  “Problem was, I didn’t have a plan, or anyone to help me figure things out.  Unfortunately I completely underestimated how important building a solid foundation was to generating clients and ongoing income."

So Tania immersed herself in books, purchased marketing courses, attended seminars and ploughed through numerous home study courses…all while juggling the demands of raising two young girls on her own.  It was a confronting journey.  “Despite all my corporate experience, I had to admit that I didn’t have the first clue about the basics of running a REAL business that could support me both financially and emotionally.

The wisest business decision Tania believes she ever made was to pull out her credit card…it was the only source of funds available to her at the time…and hire a business coach who encouraged her to think and act differently.  Instead of treating her business like an expensive hobby (that wasn’t even covering rent and school fees) she became aware of the qualities and skill sets needed to build a successful international business.

Having recently featured on the Today Show, Tania has appeared on numerous radio programs and featured in a multitude of publications around the world.  In just 5 years, Tania’s creative communication ideas have lead to over $5 million in media coverage for both her and her clients.

In 2009 when she launched her e-zine, get NAKED…with tania, which reveals raw and uncut strategies for business, life and success…hundreds of people from around the world signed up within hours.  Thousand of people follow Tania on Social Networking sites and her events have touched the lives of well over 100,000 people from a variety of industries and nations.

At the height of the global economic crisis, Tania set out to illustrate that savvy entrepreneurs could ignore the barrage of doom and gloom by thinking creatively.   Her sell out brainchild event Every Woman’s Day Out set out to prove that despite the economy a $1 investment (yes that’s one dollar) was enough to grow a business.
